1. Introduction

Nosh ("we," "our," or "us") is a hyperlocal restaurant deals application operated by Craig Reidel, based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. We operate the Nosh mobile application (the "App") and associated website at NoshApp.ca.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information when you use Nosh. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We are committed to compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

2. Information We Collect

The App has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. We do not track which deals you view or save.

2.1 Information You Provide

Nosh does not require you to create an account. You can browse, search, and filter all deals without providing any personal information.

If you email us, including through Send Feedback in the App, we receive your email address and whatever you include. Send Feedback fills in your app version, your phone's operating system and your selected city. You can read or delete those lines before you send.

2.2 Information Used When You Use the App

• Location Data: the App asks for your location once on first launch, to open on the nearest Nosh city, and again if you use Near Me. If you allow it, the map also shows your position. Your location is used on your device to choose the city and work out distances. It is not sent to or stored by Nosh. You can turn it off at any time in your phone's settings.
• Saved Deals and Settings: your saved deals, city and app settings are stored on your device, along with a count of saved deals that the App uses to decide when to ask for a rating. We do not sync or store any of this on our servers.
• Update Identifier: the App creates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. It is sent to Expo, with your platform and app version, when the App checks for updates. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information, and we do not use it to track you.
• Network Information: the services that deliver deals, photos, maps and updates receive your IP address when the App connects to them, as with any internet service.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

• Your name, phone number, or any contact information, unless you choose to email us
• Payment or financial information
• Social media account information
• Precise location history or location logs
• Any information from children. The App is not directed at children under 13

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Operate and improve the Nosh App and its features
• Open the App on your city and show you deals near you, when you allow location
• Deliver App updates and troubleshoot issues
• Reply when you contact us

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Push Notifications

The App does not send push notifications. If we add them, we will ask for your permission first and update this policy.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. These service providers help us operate the App and website:

• Supabase: our database infrastructure provider, which stores restaurant and deal data (not your personal data).
• Google: Google Maps draws the map in the App, and we use Google Places on our own systems to gather restaurant information. Our support email is also hosted by Google. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed through these services. See policies.google.com/privacy.
• Expo: delivers App updates. See expo.dev/privacy.
• Cloudflare: hosts our website.
• Apple and Google Play: distribute the App. Ratings and reviews you leave go to them under their own terms.

Each provider handles information under its own terms and privacy policy.

When you share a deal, call a restaurant, or open a website or Instagram page from the App, your phone hands that off to the app you choose. We do not see what happens there.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Nosh, its users, or the public.

6. Data Storage and Retention

• Saved deals and settings are stored on your device. Uninstalling the App removes them, although your phone's own backup may keep a copy.
• Location data is processed in real time on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on Nosh servers.
• We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States and other countries. By using the App, you consent to the processing of your information in these jurisdictions.

7. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

• Access: request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: request that we correct any inaccurate personal information
• Deletion: request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
• Withdraw consent: turn off location access at any time in your phone's settings
• Complaint: file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at priv.gc.ca

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our database systems.

No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Nosh is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at noshappsupport@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy and mention the change in the App's release notes. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
